Our second Pioneer Corn Plot was planted on May 20, 2013 at our Lewiston Farm. This plot has 12 varieties and is in a field with irrigation. Feel free to follow the progress below as well as on our {Gallery} page and Facebook.

You'll notice lots of critters in this video and future plot updates. If you can't tell, I love getting out in the fields every week to capture these updates!
We got our Pioneer Soybean Plot planted on May 24 over at the Lewiston Farm. We had a bunch of helping hands which made the job go fast... This particular plot has 5 soybean varieties. Stay tuned to this blog for more updates or go to our {Gallery} page or Facebook page for more photos and videos!

Well, I was out in the fields yesterday {May 20} and discovered that the best way to share the plot progress with you would be to take video, however, it was super windy, so needless to say I have some more practicing to do. Maybe I'll have a video to share next week, which I'll add to this post. Here is a photo of progress for Week 2 at the Marsh trial location:
As you can see, there are some corn plants coming up. Yesterday (May 20) we also got another trial in at Lewiston - you can find pictures of that on our {Gallery} page as well as www.facebook.com/gumzseedservice. 
And that trial we got in 12 hybrid varieties. 

Below is the progress for Week 4... I picked out a couple of the different maturities to show you also. It's at about the V1 to V2 stage.

Corn Silage is Still the Best Option for Late Planted Forage]]><![CDATA[First CORN PLOTS FOR 2013]]>Wed, 08 May 2013 18:46:12 GMThttps://www.gumzseed.com/seed-blog/first-corn-plots-for-2013We got in the fields this week and were able to get some corn plots planted and got some footage of Todd and Marc in action... We were out there about 4 hours for this plot, planting nine Pioneer Seed corn varieties with maturities from a 105 day down to a 95 day. In total we planted close to nine acres for this plot.

The Pioneer Seed bins arrived earlier last month and were all set up. On a sunny morning, it's a gorgeous view from the road as you drive up to the farm! We are very excited to be able to offer bulk seed treating (for soybeans) as one of our services. Just last week, the rest of the equipment (conveyor, tender, bulk tank, etc.) was installed and we'll be able to show case the entire system at our April 9th Pre-Planting Customer Appreciation Open House! We also will have video footage of the installation available for us to share with you hopefully by June!
